Almost done!!! It looks like I am almost finished with this project. The computer housing is finished including 3D printed FDD holder. I had to design this holder because the drive I use is a Sony PC FDD 1.44Mb version. The height of this drive is only 25mm. And an orginal drive is 30mm. After some minor modifications, I managed to mount the FDD in the housing. Please take a look at the difference between the computer housing before and after cleaning. Next step is to finalize the keyboard. I am waiting for the backside of the keyboard housing to be white after UV treatment. Next time you will see the result. Check the bonus picture at the end of this post. Also the inside is clean! Goodnight, Lifeline 2020

MSX 2 Sony HB-f700-E refurbishment The mouse is the first part which will be cleaned. First the mouse needs to be disassembled. The plastic part will be whitened and the mechanical parts will be lost from dust, hairs and other smuts. Next pictures shows the bag with H2O2 cream and the plastic parts to be treated with UV light. UV treatment. The aluminium foil is to protect the environment but also to reflect UV on the top side of the parts. The cable has sticky nicotine on it. This is probably the most disgusting computer cable I have ever seen. But the result of cleaning in soap and bleach is impressive. I did not use UV to make the cable look white again. maybe I will do it in the future. I am afraid that the contacts gets wet. After all parts are cleaned this is the result. Looks like new again. Welcome to my new blog about vintage electronics In my leisure time I like to repair, refurbish or design electronic devices. My first project to show you all is about repair and refurbish of a Sony MSX-2 HB-F700 from the eighties. I bought this computer the day before yesterday for only 75 euro. The state in which the computer is is quick poor. The smell of nicotine, the discoloration due to smoking and UV light over the years. I close this article for now. I will continue updating in new articles. I hope you will enjoy my future blogs. Lifeline
